When saving vector files to use on the CNC machines, the DXF output is the common choice. But most of the CNC machines don't handle curves properly. Only the lines and arcs are widely accepted on most of the CNC machines.

In MagicTracer, you have two different ways to prevent having curves in the DXF output.

1) Disable curve detection in the Vector Convert command. When you do this, you won't get the arcs either.
2) Choose to save curves as lines in the Save Vector as DXF command.

Another thing to be considered is choosing the type of the lines to save in the DXF files. MagicTracer let you save lines as Two-point Lines, Polylines, and Light Weight Polylines. Some of the CNC machines might not like certain type of lines. You will have to find out for yourself.

It is always better to have long piece of lines than short piece of lines when using the CNC machines. Disabling the curve detection in the vector convert command will force the lines to be connected whenever it is possible. Therefore, option 1 is better than option 2 in most cases.

The "Line Smoothing", "Connect Endpoints", "Vector Combine", and other vector tools can be used to clean up the vector lines before saving the vector lines to the DXF file. I like to see if MagicTracer could come up a drawing optimizer to reorder the sequence of the vector lines in the future version. All the CNC machine and the pen plotter users would appreciate that.

What is the smg file? I don't think MagicTracer can open smg file.
