You can save the vector lines to DXF file, which is supported by most of the CAD programs.

I have converted a TIFF image into vector lines. Now I like to save the results to DWG file so that I can open it in my CAD program. Can anyone tell me how to do it?

Read this thread if you are having trouble running MagicTracer on Windows Vista:
http://forum.magictracer.com/index.php?topic=123.0

That should be what you need. Good luck! ~~~ Windows Vista is a BAD system anyway, you should switch to Windows 7.

yes,Disabling the curve detection in the vector convert command will force the lines to be connected whenever it is possible.

Your image file looks very clean and easy to convert with MagicTracer. I have tried to convert it with Outline Detection method set to "None", which is actually the Centerline detection, and Threshold 145. Then choose a larger Minimum Length like 12 to get rid of the short lines, which are the noises in the image. And choose a larger Line Smoothing Threshold like 15 to straighten up the wavy lines.

You can clean up the numbers and names either before or after the vector convert command. I would clean up those numbers and names touched the lines in the Image Mode before vector convert but leave those numbers and names in the wide open area alone. Because those numbers and names are really easy to select and delete once they are converted to lines.

To convert the area to polygon will be the hardest part for you will need to use the vector select tool to cut the lines and then combine them to hatch areas. It can be done but you have to spend time to do it manually.

Hello from France and Switzerland !!

We are looking for vectorize some pieces of French and Swiss cadastre... This is an example of what it's look like.

First step, we think we have to erase all of the numbers, places names, bad pixels... Then we have to thin the raster (does Magic Raster can do it ?).

We would like to know if Magic Tracer can vectorize a "big" raster file (30000 / 30000 pixels !!). More over, we would like to know how create a surface / area ? We need to create polygon (an not polyline) to use the DXF (with area parcels) in a GIS.

We are ready to purchase a Magic Tracer license because it seems to be a really great tool but, before, we would like to test it and notably with the cadastre.

Thank you in advance for your answer,
And sorry for the spelling mistakes !

I like to take pictures of all kinds of buildings. This is what I do to convert the photos to line drawings:

I would use the magic wand tool with big enough tolerance value to select the areas in similar colors and delete it. Then use other image tools to do some more retouch on the photo image to make it cleaner. These steps are very important for getting good conversion results. Make sure you clear up the mess areas as much as possible before carrying out the vector convert command.

You will need to do some more clean up jobs on the line drawing after the vector conversion. The vector selection tool is the one I use most of the time. The vector selection tool can be used to delete lines, remove points, add points, move points, etc. It is a very useful tool in the program.

I've just tried to use vector conversion program last month. I haven't found any problems converting clip arts to line drawings. But I don't seem to be able to get any good results while converting the photos to line drawings. I wonder if there is anything I can do in MagicTracer to get better results from converting photos to line drawings.
